Things to Do

If you're able to come over a day or two early, or stay on after the afterparty, here are our own favourite things to do, some right on the doorstep, others worth the extra drive.

Curracloe Beach, golden sand and dunes

Curracloe Beach

Right beside the resort, this vast, dune-backed stretch of golden sand famously stood in for Omaha Beach in "Saving Private Ryan." Easy walking, safe swimming, and a proper sense of scale.

Lough Tay, known as the Guinness Lake, in County Wicklow

Glendalough & the Guinness Lake

One of our favourite spots in Ireland, an early monastic site set among lakes and woodland in the Wicklow Mountains. Close by is Lough Tay, better known as the Guinness Lake for its dark water and pale shoreline, this is where James proposed, so it holds a very special place for us. It's a longer drive from Wexford, worth it if you have the time.

The Wicklow Heather

Our favourite restaurant, tucked in the village of Laragh right by Glendalough. Warm, rustic, and consistently excellent, well worth booking ahead if you're making the trip up to Wicklow.

Wells House & Gardens

A lovely Victorian house and gardens just outside Gorey, with woodland walks, a walled garden, and a good café. Handy if you're already staying in the area for Sunday's afterparty.

Altamont Gardens

A quieter, romantic garden estate over in County Carlow, laid out along the River Slaney. Beautiful in any season, a nice detour if you're exploring further afield.

Wexford Town

About 15 minutes from the resort, a walkable harbour town with plenty of pubs, restaurants, and independent shops along the narrow main street. Worth an afternoon.

Gorey Town Centre

Worth a wander if you're around for Sunday's afterparty, a good spread of shops, cafés, and pubs within easy walking distance of The Bunker Bar.
